Overview
Early bird pricing helps create urgency for event registrations by offering a lower price until a cutoff date and time.
Use early bird pricing when you want dancers to register sooner instead of waiting until the last minute.
When to use early bird pricing
Early bird pricing works well for:
- Workshops
- Social dance weekends
- Guest coach events
- Camps and intensives
- Competitions and showcases
- Events where you need earlier registration commitments
How early bird pricing works
Each ticket type can have its own early bird settings.
A ticket can have:
- Regular price
- Early bird price
- Early bird cutoff date and time
- Early bird enabled or disabled
When early bird pricing is active, public event pages and registration forms show the early bird price.
After the cutoff passes, DanceFlow uses the regular ticket price.
Checkout price protection
The checkout price is calculated by DanceFlow at checkout time.
This means the public page can show the active price, but the server still confirms whether the early bird price is valid before payment is created.
This helps prevent someone from using an outdated page or cart to get an expired discount.
Best practice
Set the early bird cutoff clearly and leave enough time between the cutoff and the event date.
For example:
- Early bird ends 2 weeks before the event
- Regular pricing continues until sales close
- Ticket sales close shortly before the event or when capacity is reached
Clear pricing helps reduce confusion and support questions.
