Communication

What SMS Opt-In Means for Studios

Understand what studios should know before texting clients through DanceFlow.

Overview

SMS opt-in means a client has agreed to receive text messages from the studio or organizer.

Studios should not text clients who have not given permission.

What consent should cover

Consent should make it clear that the client may receive text messages about studio-related communication, such as:

  • Lesson reminders
  • Schedule updates
  • Event or registration updates
  • Client follow-up
  • Account or service communication

Consent is optional

SMS consent should not be required for a client to receive services, register for an event, or buy a ticket.

Clients can use other communication methods if they do not want text messages.

Opting out

Clients can opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP. They may reply HELP for help.

Best practice

Record consent clearly in the client profile. Use notes when helpful, such as how consent was received or who recorded it.
